last weekend i dragged a good friend of mine (and the little black dog) along to an auction in kyneton to see if we could find any vintage delights for the shop (and furniture for her new apartment). we arrived about 3 hours too early as there wasn't a listing of items up on the web, so instead of sitting through hundreds of man toys before getting to the good stuff, we went to get a coffee in the historic piper st...we also checked out the stockroom, which had this little guy for sale.
i came away from the auction with a few brilliant things - old australian soft drink crate in a gorgeous teal, some retro video cameras and projectors in mint condition, old bag of golf clubs (hmm, what will i do with these), a copper surround which was an accidental bid (should be more careful but it wasn't terribly expensive!). they had some very interesting medical equipment from a long time ago - defibrillators, oxygen equipment, but it was all very polished and clean looking - alas i didn't bid on them, but they would make great decor pieces for a medical person!
from the auction, we went to castlemaine to cheer on the end of a 6 hour mountainbike race that my better half Ryan (aka Rhino) was racing pairs in with his new team enduro pulse. he was in jeans when we got there, had finished his racing due to an ouchie from a run in with a fellow competitor who couldn't steer one handed...think ribs are fine though - good to go for the tour de timor race he's leaving for next week.
anyway, now i have even more things to clean up, photograph and list - more the merrier!
