thursday op shop finds

a trip to the op shop 3 doors down today to donate a couple of boxes of goods resulted in me taking a  couple of things home...vintage out = vintage in!

i now have a 20 year old australian atlas (for etsy shop #2 - stay tuned), a copy of the macedon ranges flora (for $1 i figured i could learn some things about my local area), a gilt picture frame that i'll paint an enamel red, and this gorgeous set of romanian ceramic canisters.

this "copper surround" i kind of accidentally bought at an auction two weeks ago, and i'm not really sure what it was used for. it has a cute wooden handle on the top, and it seems like it is meant to sit over something, like a printer...and after doing a quick google, i think this may be it. seems david gestetner who was born in csorna hungary, moved to london in 1881 and established the Gestetner Cyclograph Company to produce stencils, styli, ink rollers, etc. mystery solved...

the sun was out for a while today, and herbie had some major ball fury in the park...
