garage picking

i had the good fortune of picking over a friend's father garage yesterday. i think we were both winners - he got to clear some stuff out of his house, and i got some treasures for the shop. whilst going through it, he did happen upon a big trunk that was full of family photographs and letters, going back to WW1...and my friend found some great things to furnish her new apartment with - some 50s advertising, her great-grandparents fold out camera, an old set of draughts, and a great little old rusted tv table that is now a 50s style liquor table.

so stay tuned for some old bell and howell and pentax cameras from the late 50s, some early games, a variety of books (including a series of 6 books on "practical knowlege for all"), and an old fire proof lock up steel box. oh, and an adorable malted milkshake maker...

so now i'm home, battling to get our fire started (which is our only source of heat) - it's about 7 degrees, and all it's doing is smoking. i hear a rustling noise in the chimney and am hoping a bird or possum is not blocking the chimney and getting all smoked out...
