a dog and a handful of suitcases

i decided a while ago that dog beds didn't have to be ugly. that they could in fact be incorporated into the design and decor of your house. this is what i came up with:

this was the first bed - a find in a vintage shop called bells belles vintage in castlemaine. it was handcrafted into what looked like a suitcase for carrying bowling balls, with separate dividers made out of wood. this bespoke addition pulled out however, and herbie could just squeeze into it. a perfect travelling bed...

the next one was picked up in daylesford on my hen's weekend. slightly bigger, more of a 'stay at home' kind of bed. my crafty man then screwed some old mattress base wooden legs into it, so it now sits up off the floor...oh, and these great letters came from an old church in the states courtesy of lackluster co

and this one was just for display - it sold within about 10 minutes of listing it on etsy. maybe it was the model...

and sometimes, a little dog just wants a couch and a blanket in the deep, dark winter....
