clearing out the mass production furniture

lately i've been getting rid of anything ikea or assembly line production from our house (which stems from my uni days i think), and replacing it with time-worn and rusted furniture gems.

last weekend it was time for the bedroom to have a minor facelift. this included replacing a dying peace lily that i had been holding onto and trying to (unsuccessfully) nurse it back to life with a giant jade plant compliments of my mothers glass house, and swapping our generic bedside tables with industrial metal cabinets. one of these was from a hospital, and the other is an unusual filing cabinet with side drawers (and missing it's big drawers, leaving me with two big shelves). i had done the lamp swap a while ago - finding an old upcycled lamp on etsy, and a little australian made one. i also put up some two beetle pictures, which i had made a few years ago from wallpaper samples from Porters Paints.

i love my giraffe bookend, which was a birthday present from my husband (compliments of etsy again, seems to be a theme...). i also took a few photos of some bigger items i have accumulated from garage sales in order to list them soon, but when i put this little table in our living room for something different, i started to think i didn't want to sell it....just yet.
