a weekend in images

a fabulous weekend, very rare sunshine in melbourne (with super frosty mornings - you know it's cold when you have solid ice on the INSIDE of your bedroom window)

first off was pruning all the roses (note: i have no idea what i'm doing except for following mum's two rules of pruning HARD, and keeping a gap in the middle - chop off anything growing inwards). mission was accomplished with only minor rose thorn injuries (really must buy some good gardening gloves instead of bareback hands)

herbie spent more time outside than in the past 3 months combined. now we both work from home, he spends his days going from bed to couch to fire to suitcase in office with heated pad and back again...

managed to get out for a big walk before the sun went down

then some important baking - these were "heavy furniture moving cookies". bribes for the husband and in-laws who were very kindly stopping in to help move the second ridiculously heavy 1940s pigeon holes into my office/studio in the post office

dug out some glasses for the lovely trish hunter to have a look at - and note to any interested parties that i'm selling about 250+ vintage eyewear (no time now to open a third etsy shop as planned!)

sunday morning saw a trip to woodend for an auction. a last minute decision not to race mtb bikes gave me a husband auction buddy - his first one, and it was a very 'blokey' auction, with lots of tools and chainsaws

a handy decision giving me lots of muscle power, since i bought 7 big wooden crates, an old pie warmer (below), a brownbuilt locker (above), and finally, some old potato crates to build our veggie garden

very excited about the veggie garden - i've been on the hunt for some suitable (local) ones for a year - now i have NO excuse not to build the veggie garden. next job after that is to convert the old wooden cubby house into a chook shed...

sunday afternoon i cleaned out all my stock from the kiwi fruit crate pigeonhole shelving currently in the post office (and now for sale) - piled it onto the verandah - and then with not too much fuss, the four of us manhandled the austin hospital kauri pigeonholes into the post office, cms to spare! this will give me a lot more storage room, and get the piles off the floor!

and they're amazing - love them!!
